RAPID CITY, S.D --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's volleyball put up a good fight to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's top squad in Regis University, but Rangers proved why they are the top team in the conference with a 3-1 decision over the Lady Hardrockers Saturday evening at the King Center in Rapid City, S.D.
Regis defeated the Hardrockers, 26-24, 25-15, 22-25, 25-16. The 'Rockers ended the match with 44 kills, had a .113 hitting percentage, 42 assists, 86 digs and eight total blocks. The Rangers posted 57 kills, had a .219 hitting percentage, came away with 55 assists, 101 digs and nine total blocks.
Individually for SD Mines, senior
Mikkella Reese led her team with 14 kills, had a .196 hitting percentage, led the team with 18 digs and had four assisted blocks on the night. Fellow senior
Emily Newton and junior
Anna Breidt both finished the night with nine kills. Sophomore setter
Allie Boggs claimed 34 of the team's 42 assists and notched 13 digs. Freshman
Tana Dahlberg added 17 digs and junior
Alye Wagner contributed with 16.
The Hardrockers head to Spearfish, S.D., on Tuesday for a RMAC match against Black Hills State and then close out the season on Saturday on a road trip to Colorado Springs, Colo., to face UCCS.
