CHADRON, Neb. – The South Dakota School of Mines women's volleyball team once again had a hot start Saturday night during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match against Chadron State College on the road in the Nebraska, but could not hold off a rally by the Eagles, dropping the bout, 3-1.
The Eagles defeated the Hardrockers, 20-25, 25-18, 25-14, 25-23. SD Mines finished with 42 kills and had a .182 hitting percentage to go along with 41 assists, 46 digs and eight total blocks. Chadron ended the match with 56 kills, a .231 hitting percentage, 53 assists, 53 digs and four total blocks.
Individually for the 'Rockers, junior
Anna Breidt paced the team with 14 kills and had a hitting percentage of .367, and senior
Mikkella Reese added 10 kills and had a .200 hitting percentage to go along with here 13 digs. Sophomore setter
Allie Boggs contributed with 29 assists and both senior
Emily Newton and junior
Alye Wagner both had 10 digs in the bout. Freshman
Lily Lundquist recorded five assisted blocks and two solo on the night.
The loss drops SD Mines to 2-16 on the season and will next see action Tuesday in Rapid City when the Hardrockers face Black Hills State in a 7 p.m. RMAC matchup.
