SkyHawks Keep Hardrockers At Bay In RMAC Soccer Bout, 3-1

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team had a tough go of it Friday afternoon falling to the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks, 3-1, during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game at Sioux Park Stadium in Rapid City, S.D.

The Skyhawks took it to the Hardrockers early on with the first goal coming just under three minutes into the game. Fort Lewis College's Max Fuentes was able to find the back of the net on a second-chance opportunity when SD Mines goal keeper Kyle Daledovich mishandled the ball.

SD Mines knotted the game at 1-1 about 20 minutes later when sophomore Justin Barkow performed a little razzle-dazzle on the left side of the box, juked a couple defenders and sail the ball past the goal keeper for the score. It was at the 24:40 mark.
FLC took the lead back just before the end of the half when Marshall Metzger took a corner kick  from teammate Ty Lang and headed it into the net during the 39th minute.

The Skyhawks added on another goal at the 67:09 mark to seal the win when Ryan Lee booted the ball in for a score off an assist from Dylan Elder.

Fort Lewis notched 16 shots in the game, six were on goal; while the Hardrockers tallied nine shots on the day, four were on goal. Barkow and senior David Pineda both had two shots while freshman Julian Bouchard, senior Lars Skau, junior Noah McKenzie sophomore Will Tibbitt and junior Cameron Thompson all notched one.
