Mountain Lions Blank Hardrocker Soccer Team, 3-0

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team ran into a gamey Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent playing their final home game of the season, as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team earned a 3-0 win over the Hardrockers Sunday in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The Mountain Lions were celebrating senior day as Jake McAllister scored the game's final goal, his seventh, while also assisting on the second goal.
Nathan Dee got UCCS on the board in the 17th minute, which was his second of the campaign, when the ball came off a defender in front of goal.

Mario Mandel then scored his first of the season in the 37th minute when McAllister sent a pass into the area from the left side. Mandel found himself in space in the area, slotting his shot to the back of the net.

Mandel returned the favor to McAllister in the 52nd minute when he sent in the ball from the right side into the area. The goal is McAllister's seventh of the year.

In goal for UCC was David Meyer wh6 earned his 22nd career shutout by making six saves as he now holds the program record for shutouts in a career. Junior Kyle Daledavich suffered the loss for the Hardrockers. He faced 21 shots and came away with seven saves in the game.

As a team, the Mountain Lions outshot South Dakota Mines 21 to 12. The 'Rockers had six shots on goal. Sophomore Justin Barkow and senior Darin James both tallied two tries while freshman Sterling McKenzie and senior Charles Kieffer each had one opportunity.
The win puts UCCS at 6-7-3 overall and 6-3-3 in conference action while SD Mines falls to 3-10-2 on the year and 2-10-0 in the RMAC.

SD Mines returns home for its final two conference games, taking on Fort Lewis College Friday at 2 p.m. followed by a matchup against Adams State Sunday in an 11 a.m. bout.
