RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team is approaching their second week of the season as the Hardrockers travel to Billings, Mont. for the MSU-Billings Rimrock Classic Friday and Sunday.
On Friday the Hardrockers will face the University of Mary --- for the second time this season. The 'Rockers lost to the Marauders in their first matchup (last week) by a score of 3-2, however SD Mines outshot Mary in that outing and expect to get a better result out of this next game.
"We have another shot at them. Hopefully we don't dig ourselves into an early hole and we can get a result out of this game," said Hardrocker soccer head coach
Jordan Kadlec.
Then on Sunday the Hardrockers will face off against their hosts, MSU-Billings Yellowjackets. MSU-Billings is 0-2 on the season after a recent trip to California where they played the No. 4 team in the country -- Cal Poly Pomona.
"MSU-Billings is a very good team and they are very physical," Kadlec said. "It would be good to get two wins out of the weekend but it will be very difficult."
Last season MSU-Billings rallied to score 5 goals against the Hardrockers, who have plenty to prove in this coming weekend.?
Friday's game has been updated to a 2 p.m. (MST) start and Sunday's matchup is slated for 3:30 p.m. (MST). Both matches will be broadcast live and have live stats at:
