RMAC Play Begins For 'Rocker Soccer On Road Trip

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team opens Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play this weekend with the Hardrockers' longest trip of the season.

"It's a long trip and could definitely prove to be a test to our players," said Hardrocker soccer head coach Jordan Kadlec.

The 'Rockers have an afternoon kickoff with Fort Lewis in Durango, Colo., this Friday.

Fort Lewis heads into the contest fresh off a win, but still sit at 1-3 overall. The Skyhawks have played two teams ranked in the Top 10 nationally, so their losing record may not reflect their true ability.

Friday's game against the Skyhawks will only be the second meeting between the two teams. The Hardrockers fell, 5-4, in an overtime loss last year at Sioux Park Stadium.

In Sunday matchup, the Hardrockers will be in Alamosa, Colo., to face the Adams State Grizzlies.  Adams State has already exceeded their 2015 win total, currently sitting at 3-1.

Even though the Hardrockers faced both of these teams last season, this season will be a totally new test.

"Adams State and Fort Lewis both have new coaches this season, so we don't know too much about how the teams will play," Kadlec said.

The Hardrockers are 0-3 on the year.  However, looking back to last season they won their final RMAC game and hope to build a conference win streak come Friday.?
