COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- Coming off possibly the biggest win of the season Friday night (defeated MSU-Denver, 2-1), the South Dakota School of Mines men's soccer team couldn't match the result Sunday afternoon as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mountain Lions shutout the Hardrockers, 2-0, during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Mountain Lions earned a goal in each of the 45-minute halves Sunday with an aggressive style of play that had the ball on SD Mines' side of the pitch for most of the match. UCCS finished with 16 total shots, seven on goal. The Hardrockers notched six shots in the game, two were on goal.
Hardrocker senior
Andreas Skau paced the team with three shots, one on goal and sophomore Ian Debois posted two shots, one on goal. Senior
Erik Fenske also had a shot in the game. Sophomore goalkeeper
Kyle Daledovich played the entire game with five saves on the day.
The loss drops SD Mines to 2-11 on the season and 2-8 in the conference. Next up, the Hardrockers are back home Wednesday night to face national ranked Regis University in a 6 p.m. showdown at Sioux Park Stadium.
