- Mike Sybrant is going into his fourth year as assistant women’s basketball coach at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.
- Overall, Sybrant is going into his 11th year as a college coach, helping his teams to an overall record of 159-133.
- In Sybrant’s three years with the program, the Hardrockers have gone 34-40 overall and qualified for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament (RMAC) as the six seed in each of the first two years.
- The Hardrockers finished the 2021-22 season with five straight wins and seven wins in their last ten games.
- In 2021-22, Ryan Weiss earned her third All-RMAC selection, being named to the second team.
- Weiss also earned RMAC Women’s Basketball Academic Player of the Year, in addition to moving up to 13th on the all-time scoring list and setting the new program record in three pointers made.
- During the 2020-21 season, Ryan Weiss was named First Team All-RMAC, while Michaela Shaklee and Anna Combalia were named honorable mention.
- In the 2019-20 season, Ryan Weiss and Anna Haugen were named First Team All-RMAC and Sami Steffeck was named as an honorable mention.
- Prior to being named assistant coach at South Dakota Mines, Sybrant was the assistant coach at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, his second stint with the program.
- In 2018-19, Sybrant helped lead the Plainswomen to a 22-7 record.
- Sybrant helped lead the program to a 14-14 record in his first year. During the 2017-18 season, the Plainswomen team were named the No. 4 team in the nation by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association in the Junior College Division having a 3.39 team GPA. The Plainswomen also had six NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
- Sybrant jumped back to the collegiate level as an assistant at Upper Iowa University in 2015-16.
- Prior to Upper Iowa, Sybrant spent 2006-2015 with West Holt Public Schools, Palmyra High School, and Bennet Elementary School, coaching, teaching and working in athletic administration.
- From 2003-2006, Sybrant spent his first stint at Northeastern Junior College.
- The first collegiate experience for Sybrant came in 2002-03 as a graduate assistant at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he helped them to a 30-3 record, winning the North Central Region Championship, and advancing to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight.
- From 1996-2002, Sybrant spent time at Dodge Public Schools and Ansley Public Schools, coaching teaching and in athletic administration.
- Sybrant graduated with his bachelor’s degree (1996) and master’s degree (2003) in education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
