ACCOMPLISHMENTS
  • Ryan Gent was hired as the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at South Dakota Mines and is in his fourth season with the program.
  • For the second straight year in 2023, the South Dakota Mines offense was one of the best in the RMAC and the Division II level, ranking near the top of the country in 3rd down conversion percentage (50.7%, 7th), completion percentage (64.6%, 16th), passing offense per game (253.5, 19th) and redzone offense (92.5%, 4th).
  • Gent helped Ben Noland become a Harlon Hill nominee and the first Division II AP All-American in school history in 2023. Noland finished the season ranked 3rd in receptions (92), 7th in receiving yards (1,184), 4th in receiving yards per game (107.6), 6th in receiving touchdowns (15), (27th in all-purpose yards per game (121.09), 18th in punt return average (9.7), 31st in scoring (92 points) and 22nd in total touchdowns (15). He set a school record in single-season touchdowns and a single-game school record with 16 receptions against Colorado School of Mines.
  • Noland along with Henry Dryden became the 3rd and 4th Hardrockers to be named to the All-Super Region 4 team with Noland being selected to the first team and Dryden second team.
  • In addition to Noland and Dryden, offensive lineman Connor Smith was also named to the RMAC All-Conference First Team, while quarterback Jayden Johannsen and Grant Smith were second team selections. Running back Jaylen Frye earned Honorable Mention honors.
  • The offense in 2022 was one of the best at the Division II level, ranking 5th in passing offense (315.5), 20th in first downs (263), 22nd in passing efficiency (148.58) and 14th in total offense (442.6).
  • In 2022 wide receiver Jeremiah Bridges was named to the Don Hansen All-America team as an honorable mention. Bridges was also selected as an RMAC All-Conference First Team selection. Bridges had 1,233 receiving yards, which was seventh nationally. His 79 receptions were eighth in the country.
  • Named to the second team in 2022 were Johannsen and receiver Isaiah Eastman. Johannsen finished with 3,199 passing yards, earning him a top 10 standing nationally. He also was eighth in the nation in touchdown passes with 28 and second in the country in total offense, averaging 338.6 yards per game. Eastman led the conference in receptions with 86 (5th in the nation) and 1,104 yards (ninth), He also caught 10 TD passes, good for 13th in the nation.
  • In 2021, two offensive players earned RMAC Offensive Player of the Week when Jayden Johannsen and Isaiah Eastman won the honors.

  • Three wide receivers for South Dakota Mines finished in the top-15 in the RMAC in receptions and receiving yards. Jeremiah Bridges, Isiah Eastman and Colin Zur finished 8th, 9th and 15th in catches, while that same trio finished 5th (Bridges), 12th (Zur), and 13th (Eastman).
  • Eight different offensive players were named All-RMAC Honorable Mention.
  • In 2020, Ahmad Lewis finished the abbreviated season in 9th in rushing yards.
  • Offensively, the team finished second in the RMAC in scoring, total yards, rushing, and passing.
  • During the 2019 season, his final with Abilene Christian, Gent helped Kobe Clark set a single-season school record with 87 receptions for 777 yards.
  • In 2018, he coached Josh Fink to an All-American Honor as he recorded 55 catches for 644 yards and four touchdowns.
  • His first year in 2017, Gent helped Troy Grant earn a Southland Conference Honorable Mention honor, catching 51 passes for 542 yards and four touchdowns.
  • In 2016, Gent was named the Running Backs and Tight Ends coach for Northwest Missouri State University, his first full-time position in coaching.
  • In 2015-16, he assisted in the Bearcats winning 30 straight games, and two national championships.
  • In 2015, he coached fullback/tight end Jordan Grove, who earned a spot on the All-Mid America Intercollegiate Athletic Association First Team.
  • His first year coaching came in 2014 when he was a offensive line graduate assistant at Northwest Missouri State University.
  • Gent was a quarterback at Iowa State University for four years (2010-13), graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering (2014).
  • He went on to earn a master’s degree in sports administration (2015) from Northwest Missouri State University.
