- Ryan Freeman was hired as the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at South Dakota Mines on 4/15/2024.
- In 2023, while serving as Offensive Research Analyst and Assistant Quarterbacks coach at Division I University of Memphis, Freeman led the offense to being sixth in FBS in Scoring, averaging 39.4 points per game.
- In addition to their scoring, Memphis was 10th in passing (306.5 yards per game) and 14th in total offense (458.8 yards per game) among FBS schools.
- During the 2022 season, Freeman served in his first year at Memphis as an Offensive Research Analyst/Assistant Tight Ends coach and helped lead them to top 30 FBS ranks in scoring offense (21st, 35.3 points per game), passing offense (21st, 279.2 yards per game) and red zone scoring (26th).
- From 2018-2021, Freeman served as an Offensive Graduate Assistant/Wide Receivers coach at Marshall University.
- Marshall appeared in four bowl games during Freeman’s tenure, making the Gasparilla Bowl from 2018-2019 and the Camellia and New Orleans Bowl in 2020 & 2021.
- In 2021, he helped lead the Herd to a top 20 total offense (16th) and passing offense (18th).
- In 2020, he helped lead Marshall to become Conference USA East Division Champions.
- Brenden Knox earned Conference USA MVP honors following the 2019 season when he rushed for 1,284 yards and 11 touchdowns, following it up with a second Conference USA All-Conference First Team selection in 2020.
- Coached Isaiah Green and Grant Wells to Conference USA Freshman of the Year honors in 2018 & 2020.
- Helped Tyre Brady and Marcel Williams Earn Conference USA honors in 2018 when the former earned All-Conference First Team at wide receiver when he caught 71 passes for 1002 yards and nine touchdowns while the latter earned honorable mention honors.
- Josh Ball (4th Round Draft Pick – Dallas Cowboys), Tyre Brady, Brenden Knox, Willie Johnson, Alex Mollete and Will Ulmer all became NFL players after being coached by Freeman.
- Spent the 2017 season as the Wide Receivers coached for Rocky Mountain College and led them to scoring 30.2 points per game, third best in the Frontier Conference.
- Coached Darneail Jenkins who wound up getting a professional opportunity in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles.
- Became the youngest offensive coordinator in all of college football when he was hired by Kentucky Christian University at 25 in 2015 and spent two seasons with them also serving as the quarterbacks coach.
- Kentucky Christian broke 16 school records during his time on staff.
- In 2016, Freeman helped Tre Ross earn All-Mid South All-Conference First Team as wide receiver.
- The offensive line allowed 16 sacks in 2015, 21st in the National Intercollegiate Athletic Association (NAIA).
- Freeman’s first full-time position was with Oklahoma Baptist University as the Wide Receivers Coach/Video Coordinator, spending the 2014 season there.
- The offense set a school record with 43.5 points per game, finishing third in the NAIA in that category and third in yards per game (479).
- Offensively, the program set 19 single-season school records.
- Derek Serowski and Nyko Symonds earned first and second team all-conference honors.
- While completing his education, Freeman also spent time at Black Hills State University (2013), University of Wyoming, Westmore High School (2010), Southmoore High School (2009) and South Dakota State University (2008).
- Freeman graduated from Black Hills State University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in general studies before earning a master’s degree from East Central University in sports administration.
