2019-20 (Sophomore): Appeared in 27 games while averaging 14.2 minutes per game…Finished the season with 99 points (3.7pg), 58 rebounds (2.2pg), 17 assists, 8 steals, and 2 blocks…Season-best performance of 13 points in just 18 minutes (3-3 from the field & 7-9 on free throws) with 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal vs. UC-Colorado Springs (1/18).
2018-19 (Freshman): Appeared in 26 games with 18 starts while averaging 20.5 minutes per game…Finished the season with 111 points (4.3pg), 53 rebounds (2.0pg), 13 assists, 5 steals, and 1 block…Season-best performance of 10 points in 23 minutes with 5 rebounds and 1 steal vs. Nebraska Christian (12/31).
High School: Team Captain, All-Conference, Academic All-State.
Personal: Daughter of Bob & Kelly Johnstone…Has two siblings (Matthew & Rebecca)...Her hobbies outside of basketball included all things alpaca, playing her banjo-ukelele and country music…Majoring in Chemical Engineering with career aspirations of working in the environment side of the engineering industry… Mel’s favorite quote is “It’s never too early for ice cream."
