RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Volleyball is playing in the RMAC Regional Pod this weekend, with a game at Chadron State on Thursday and a Homecoming matchup with Black Hills State on Friday at 7 p.m.

Series History

Since 1995, the Hardrockers and Eagles are 26-26. However, South Dakota Mines has won five straight matchups, including a 3-0 sweep on Aug. 28 at the King Center. Lexi Glendenning led the way with 14 kills, while Maria Bouman hit for .529.

Black Hills State holds a 50-27 record over South Dakota Mines since 1995. The Rockers have picked up wins in five straight matches, including a 3-1 win and 3-0 victory in their matchups last season.

About the Eagles

Chadron State is 7-6 and 1-3 in the RMAC and comes into this game with two straight wins. They defeated Black Hills State 3-1 to open the RMAC Regional Pod on Tuesday. Their lone RMAC victory was a 3-2 win at Western Colorado last Saturday.

Mataya Ward leads the Eagles with 3.14 kills per set. Sarah Meservey's 1.14 blocks per set is second in the RMAC, while Avery Lacy is averaging 4.27 digs per set, the sixth-best mark in the conference. The Eagles were picked 15^th in the RMAC Preseason Poll.

About the Yellow Jackets

Black Hills State comes to Rapid City 6-7 overall and 2-2 in the RMAC. They fell 3-1 to Chadron State on Tuesday night in Spearfish. Last weekend, they defeated Colorado Christian 3-1 before falling to CSU Pueblo 3-0.

Carsyn Mettler has 140 total kills to lead the Yellow Jackets. Izzy Saiki is averaging 2.80 kills, 0.43 aces and 2.35 digs. Kiera Thompson's 4.21 digs per set is seventh in the conference. Black Hills State was picked 14^th in the RMAC Preseason Poll.

About the Hardrockers

Through 12 contests, South Dakota Mines is 9-3 with a 3-1 RMAC record. They have won four of their last five games, including RMAC wins over Western Colorado, Fort Lewis and CSU Pueblo. They fell to Colorado Christian in five sets last Saturday.

Cate Warren was named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week last week. She is averaging 3.38 kills per set with a .283 hitting percentage, while Glendenning has a .335 hitting percentage with 3.37 kills per set. Maria Bouman is first in the RMAC in aces and fifth in hitting percentage this season. The Rockers were picked eighth in the RMAC Preseason Poll.

What's Next

The Rockers stay at home next week to take on (RV) UCCS on Oct. 2 and #24 MSU Denver on Oct. 3. They will head south to New Mexico Highlands and Adams State the following week.
