Football Travels South to Alamosa for Matchup with Grizzlies

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Football will look to rebound at Adams State on Saturday at 12 p.m.

Series History

South Dakota Mines holds a 7-2 record over Adams State dating back to 2016. The Rockers have topped the Grizzlies every season since 2021, with the Hardrockers outscoring Adams State 220-98 in that stretch.

About the Grizzlies

Adams State is 0-3 and 0-1 in the RMAC so far this season. In non-conference play, they fell to Western New Mexico and Sull Ross State. Black Hills State topped the Grizzlies 44-8 last week. Their last win came on Sept. 30, 2023, at New Mexico Highlands.

The Grizzlies have run three quarterbacks this season, with Frank Arcuri leading Adams State through the air with 265 passing yards and one touchdown. Adams State is second in the RMAC in rushing with 257.3 yards per game, while their defense is last, allowing 281.7 yards.

About the Hardrockers

South Dakota Mines is looking for a bounce-back game with a 2-1 record and 0-1 RMAC clip. Last week, they fell to Colorado Mesa 30-24 in overtime. Before that, they defeated Drake and Southwest Baptist in non-conference play. Aiden Werlinger led the Rockers with 14 tackles, three quarterback pressures, 2.5 tackles for loss and two sacks against the Mavericks.

Through three contests, the Hardrockers rank sixth in the RMAC in offense and seventh in defense. Dawson Dunbar is third in the conference with 103 rushing yards per game, while Ty Harris is sixth with 66.7 yards. Dunbar's 143 all-purpose yards per game ranks third in the RMAC, while his 10 points per game is tied for first. Charlie Johnson is tied for first in the RMAC in interceptions and third in total tackles.
