Volleyball in Pueblo and Lakewood for RMAC Play

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Volleyball is set to continue RMAC play at CSU Pueblo on Friday and at Colorado Christian on Saturday.

Series History

CSU Pueblo leads South Dakota Mines 10-4 since 2012. However, the Rockers have won four of their last six matchups against the ThunderWolves. Last season, CSU Pueblo defeated the Hardrockers 3-2 at the King Center. Lexi Glendenning recorded 22 kills in that game.

The Hardrockers are 4-11 against Colorado Christian since 2012. They fell 3-0 last season after Glendenning hit for .364 with nine kills. The Cougars defeated the Hardrockers in the RMAC Quarterfinals 3-1 in the 2024 season.

About the ThunderWolves

CSU Pueblo is 5-6 overall and 2-0 in the RMAC so far this season. Their best win of the year was a 3-2 victory over #25 West Texas A&M on Sept. 2. Last weekend they took down both Regis and Chadron State on the road.

Lily Zwart leads the ThunderWolves with 128 kills and 2.84 kills per set. While CSU Pueblo is near the bottom of RMAC offensive categories, they are second in the conference with 2.41 blocks per set. Their 108.5 total blocks is fifth in NCAA DII.

About the Cougars

Coming into the weekend, Colorado Christian is 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the RMAC. Their signature win was a 3-2 victory over (RV) Northern State at the Oredigger Volleyball Classic. The Cougars took down by Chadron State and Regis last week.

Sienna Thatcher has 2.88 kills per set with 2.28 digs per set. Krista Traynor is averaging 0.47 aces per set which ranks third in the RMAC so far this year.

About the Hardrockers

South Dakota Mines is 8-2 and 2-0 in the RMAC. They are on a three-game winning streak after defeating both Western Colorado and Fort Lewis last weekend at the King Center. Before that, the Hardrockers went 3-1 in both of their non-conference tournaments.

Cate Warren is coming off the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week award where she put up 33 kills over seven sets. She is averaging 3.43 kills per set with a .301 hitting percentage for the Rockers. The Hardrockers rank first in the RMAC in both kills and points heading into the weekend.

What's Next

The Hardrockers will compete in the RMAC Regional Pod next week, with a game at Chadron State scheduled for Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. The Rockers will take on Black Hills State on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. at the King Center.
