Men's Basketball Ready for Road Contests at UCCS, CCU

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Men's Basketball is on the road at UCCS and Colorado Christian this weekend.

Series History

UCCS is 11-8 all-time against the Hardrockers. South Dakota Mines has won three of the last four games against the Mountain Lions, including two games at UCCS.

The Hardrockers hold an 8-7 edge over Colorado Christian in their series matchup. After losing four straight games to the Cougars, the Rockers defeated CCU 72-66 on Dec. 11, 2025. Their last win in Lakewood came on Dec. 19, 2020.

About the Mountain Lions

UCCS returns home after a four-game road trip 11-9 overall and 6-6 in the RMAC. They went 1-3 on their road trip, with the lone win over Western Colorado on Jan. 29. The Mountain Lions hold a 6-1 record at home this season, with the lone loss on Jan. 8 against CSU Pueblo.

UCCS has four players averaging 11 or more points per game this season. Xavier Martinez is averaging 13.2 points per game, while Marzouq Abdur-Razaaq is averaging 13.1 points and 6.2 rebounds. Their 88.7 points per game as a team is first in the RMAC.

About the Cougars

Colorado Christian comes into action 9-11 overall and 4-8 in the RMAC. They are winners of their last two games over Westminster and Western Colorado. The Cougars are 3-1 in their last four home games and 5-4 overall at home this season.  

Pierce Bazil leads the team and is sixth in the RMAC with 16.7 points per game this season. Joshua Reid is averaging 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for the Cougars. Colorado Christian's 72.9 points allowed per game ranks third in the RMAC through 20 games.

About the Hardrockers

South Dakota Mines is 9-11 overall and 6-6 in the RMAC after losing to both Chadron State and #19 Black Hills State last weekend. In their last road win, the Rockers defeated Westminster 75-70. Ryan Sweeney recorded 30 points, six rebounds and six assists in that game. Gray Thompson grabbed 10 rebounds, including four offensive rebounds.

Jason Lee's 18.4 points per game ranks third in the RMAC through 20 games played. His 5.4 assists per game is second in the RMAC and 18th in NCAA DII. Sweeney is second on the team with 13.5 points per game, while Thompson is averaging 6.7 rebounds per game. The Hardrockers' 9.4 three-pointers per game is third in the RMAC this season.
