RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Volleyball hits the road this weekend to play New Mexico Highlands and Adams State.
Series History
South Dakota Mines holds a 7-4 all-time record against New Mexico Highlands. The Rockers have won every game since the 2021 season. In Las Vegas, the Hardrockers are 2-2 all-time. They defeated the Cowgirls 3-0 last season at the King Center.
Against Adams State, the Hardrockers are 5-8 all-time. The Grizzlies won both matchups last season, with a 3-1 win in Kearney, Nebraska, and 3-0 sweep in Rapid City. The last Hardrockers win was a 3-2 victory on Sept. 27, 2024, in Alamosa. That was their first win in Alamosa in program history.
About the Cowgirls
New Mexico Highlands is 3-14 overall and 1-5 in the RMAC. At home, they are 1-8 this season. They earned their first RMAC win of the season last weekend, a 3-2 victory at Chadron State. That win snapped a 10-game losing streak.
Aziza Morris leads the team with 2.90 kills per set in 17 matches played. Naya Dornic leads the Cowgirls defense with 3.74 digs per set. New Mexico Highlands is third in the RMAC with 98 aces this season. They were picked 12
th in the RMAC Preseason Poll.
About the Grizzlies
Guided by a four-game winning streak, Adams State is 10-8 overall and 4-2 in the RMAC. After sweeping their regional pod, they won both RMAC contests last week against Chadron State and Regis. Seven of their eight losses have been against teams ranked or receiving votes in the top 25.
Isa Folau is first on the team with 2.76 kills per set. Defensively, Ashlyn Jones' 4.81 digs per set is first on the team and second in the RMAC. Her 308 digs is tied for first in the conference. The Grizzlies were picked to finish in 11
th in the RMAC Preseason Poll.
About the Hardrockers
South Dakota Mines is looking for a rebound after falling to UCCS and MSU Denver last weekend. They are 11-5 overall and 3-3 in the RMAC following those losses. Before last weekend, the Rockers had won six of their last seven matches. On the road, the Hardrockers are 3-1 so far this season.
Cate Warren is fourth in the RMAC with 3.43 kills per set, while
Lexi Glendenning's 3.26 mark is fifth.
Maria Bouman is ranked first in the conference with 32 aces, third with a .356 hitting percentage and ninth with 0.95 blocks per set. As a team, the Hardrockers are second in the RMAC in kills and third in hitting percentage. The Rockers were picked eighth in the RMAC Preseason Poll.
