Men's Basketball in Denver to Face Roadrunners, Orediggers This Weekend

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Men's Basketball is back in action this weekend at MSU Denver and Colorado School of Mines.

Series History

MSU Denver is 19-8 all-time against South Dakota Mines. They have won nine of the last 10 matchups, including both games last season. The last Hardrocker win was a 93-88 victory on Dec. 10, 2022, in Denver.

Colorado School of Mines holds a 23-9 all-time record against the Hardrockers. The Orediggers have won nine straight games with the last Hardrocker win on Feb. 22, 2020, in Golden.

About the Roadrunners

MSU Denver is 4-8 overall and 2-2 in the RMAC this season. They have won three of their last four contests, with their most recent win on Dec. 20 against Nebraska Kearney. The Roadrunners' two RMAC wins were against Western Colorado and Westminster. They have fell to both Texas A&M – Kingsville and Fort Hays State this season.

Logan Threatt leads the team with 16.8 points per game this season. Brian Unachukwu's 1.6 blocks per game is first in the RMAC. His 5.5 rebounds per game also leads the Roadrunners. MSU Denver is averaging 3.83 blocks per game this season, the third-best mark in the conference.

About the Orediggers

Going into the weekend, Colorado School of Mines is 6-9 overall and 2-2 in the RMAC. In their last game, they defeated Northern New Mexico 92-84 on Jan. 3. Their two RMAC losses came to Westminster and Colorado Mesa. The Orediggers and Hardrockers do not have a common opponent yet this season.

Markus Pastorcic-Straun is second in the RMAC with 19.9 points per game this season. Alex Romack was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week after he put up 17 points and 14 rebounds against Northern New Mexico. The Orediggers are first in the RMAC with 38.7 rebounds per game.

About the Hardrockers

South Dakota Mines heads to Denver with a 6-6 overall record and 3-1 RMAC record. They are off to one of their best starts since joining NCAA DII. Their 3-1 RMAC record is the best since the 2016-17 season. They go into the weekend after winning four straight games against Chadron State, Colorado Christian, CSU Pueblo and Bethany.

Jason Lee is off to a great start with the Hardrockers. He is averaging 19 points per game and 4.1 rebounds with 68 assists and 26 steals. He is shooting 35.3% from beyond the arc. Gray Thompson has 6.8 rebounds per game to lead the team. The Hardrockers have four different players averaging 10+ points per game.
