Rockers Men's Basketball Back in South Dakota for Eagles and Yellow Jackets

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Men's Basketball is back from a long road trip to host Chadron State on Jan. 29 and go to #19 Black Hills State on Jan. 31.

Series History

Chadron State holds a 118-70 all-time record against South Dakota Mines. The Hardrockers won their first matchup back on Dec. 6 with a score of 82-78. Four Rockers had 10 or more points in that game.

The Yellow Jackets hold a 112-93 record against South Dakota Mines. The Hardrockers have won three of the last five matchups, including a road win on Nov. 27, 2023. Black Hills State defeated the Hardrockers 104-76 on Dec. 2 at the King Center. Jason Lee put up a career-high 42 points in that game.

About the Eagles

Chadron State is 4-15 overall and 2-9 in the RMAC so far this season. Their two RMAC wins came over Regis and Westminster. They fell to #19 Black Hills State 59-77 on Tuesday night. They split their weekend last week, defeating Westminster and falling to Colorado Mesa.

Jadon Cool is one of three players averaging 11 or more points with 14.5 points per game this season. Isaiah Randolph had 13.9 points per game, while Mack Keighran has 11 per game. Luka Djurovic is fifth in the RMAC with 7.1 rebounds per game.

About the Yellow Jackets

After taking down Chadron State on Tuesday, #19 Black Hills State is 16-3 overall and 9-2 in the RMAC. Their three losses came to (RV) MSU Moorhead, MSU Denver and Fort Lewis. They are 5-1 at home this season. On the road last week, they defeated Colorado Mesa and Western Colorado.

Four different Yellow Jackets are averaging 10 or more points this season. Cam Lowe's 18.5 points per game is third in the RMAC. He is also averaging 6.5 rebounds per game with 116 total defensive rebounds, the most in the conference. The Yellow Jackets rank second in the RMAC in defense and third in offense.

About the Hardrockers

South Dakota Mines returns home with a 9-9 overall record and 6-4 RMAC clip. They went 1-1 last weekend with a 74-81 loss at Western Colorado and 75-70 win at Westminster. They have split the last three RMAC weekends, going 3-3 in their last six games. Their last weekend sweep was on Dec. 11-13 against Colorado Christian and CSU Pueblo.

Four Hardrockers are averaging 10 or more points per game. Lee leads the way with 18.3 points per game, the fourth-best mark in the conference. His 5.7 assists per game is second in the RMAC and 12th in NCAA DII. Ryan Sweeney is averaging 14.1 points per game on 50% field goal shooting. The Hardrockers are shooting 36.1% from beyond the arc this season, the fifth-best percentage in the RMAC.
