RAPID CITY, SD – South Dakota Mines Women's Volleyball is ready to go for the 2025 season as they begin at the Oredigger Volleyball Classic this weekend.

Series History

In their history, South Dakota Mines has only faced two teams at this tournament. They are 3-9 all-time against Colorado School of Mines and 0-1 against Washburn in their history. The Hardrockers will face Davenport and Grand Valley State for the first time in program history this weekend.

About the Orediggers

While Colorado School of Mines had very successful campaigns for a substantial amount of time, the Orediggers finished below .500 last season for the first time since 2007. They finished the 2024 season with a 9-17 overall record and 5-9 RMAC record. In their lone matchup last season, the Hardrockers pulled off a reverse sweep with a 3-2 victory over the Orediggers. They were picked tied for ninth place in the RMAC Preseason Poll.

This match will serve as a non-conference match.

About the Panthers

Davenport finished the 2024 season with a 10-19 overall record and 6-11 record in the GLIAC. They faced #11 Grand Valley State in the GLIAC Quarterfinals but were swept 3-0 by the Lakers. After their seventh place finish in 2024, the Panthers were picked seventh out of 11 in the 2025 GLIAC Preseason Poll.

About the Ichabods

Washburn goes into the weekend ranked 22^nd in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll. They had a successful 2024 season with a 21-8 overall record and 11-5 clip in the MIAA. After losing in the first round of the MIAA Tournament, the Ichabods made it to the regional semifinals before falling to Central Oklahoma. Washburn was picked to finish in third place in the MIAA Preseason Poll.

About the Lakers

Grand Valley State is the highest ranked team the Hardrockers will face this weekend as they start the season at 14^th. The Lakers ended the 2024 season with a 28-4 overall record and 14-2 GLIAC record. They fell to Findlay in the regional semifinals to end their 2024 campaign with the most wins in program history since 2013. Grand Valley State was tabbed to win the GLIAC Championship in the GLIAC Preseason Poll.

What's Next

The Hardrockers will go to the Rosella Meier UNK Fall Classic next weekend at Nebraska Kearney. They will face four teams there before conference play begins on Sept. 19. The 2025 home opener is scheduled for Sept. 26 against CSU Pueblo.
