Hardrocker Men’s Basketball Earns NABC Academic Excellence; Six Named to Honors Court

RAPID CITY, SD (July 17, 2025) – South Dakota Mines Hardrocker Men's Basketball earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award along with six student-athletes named to the academic honors court.

The NABC announced its team and individual academic honors for the 2024-2025 academic year today. The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize programs that completed the 2024-25 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Players making the honors court include: Abel Hutchinson, junior civil engineering major from Bentonville, Ark., Charles Christensen, senior mechanical engineering major from Rapid City, S.D., Guillem Garcia Riera, a junior physics major from Barcelona, Spain,  Jasper Reinalda, recent industrial engineering graduate from Corvallis, Ore., Keagen Smith, engineering management graduate student from Delano, Minn,, and Martin Poznanovic, computer science graduate student from Uzice, Serbia.

This is the second consecutive season the program has earned a Team Academic Excellence Award from the NABC

"I'm very proud of our team for their accomplishment, we have a special group of young men here that have very bright futures," said Michael Iseman, Hardrocker Men's Basketball head coach.

More than 2,400 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court and nearly 400 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2024-25. A full list of Honors Court recipients is available here.
