Hardrocker Athletics Holds Press Conference to Introduce New Coaching Staff

RAPID CITY, SD (May 14, 2025) — South Dakota Mines Athletics invites members of the media and area community to a press conference to officially introduce three new head coaches who will lead the Hardrocker basketball and soccer programs into a new era of excellence.

The press conference will take place on Wednesday, May 21 at 2 p.m. in the Christensen Hall of Fame room in the King Center.

Hardrocker Athletic Director David Crum will formally introduce:

  • Teren Schuster as the head men's soccer coach. Prior to coming to Mines, Shuster was the head coach at Briar Cliff University where he led the program for three seasons and coached them to a 24-22-12 overall record.
  • Michael Ismean as the head men's basketball coach. Iseman comes to Mines with a decade of collegiate basketball coaching experience with his most recent as assistant coach for Missouri University of Science and Technology where he helped lead the team to a Great Lakes Valley Conference championship, the team's first NCAA Tournament bid in nearly 30 years and its highest NCAA DII ranking in program history.
  • Kyley Bachand as the head women's basketball coach. Bachand comes to Mines from William Jewell College, where she spent the last two seasons as head coach, doubling the team's overall wins and tripling the wins in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). She coached an All-GLVC performer who finished fourth in the league in scoring.

Each coach brings a wealth of experience, a proven track record in recruitment and competition, and a strong commitment to developing successful, well-rounded student athletes.
