Hardrockers Close 2025 with Bethany on Thursday Night

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Men's Basketball will close out the 2025 calendar year with Bethany on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the King Center.

South Dakota Mines and Bethany have never faced in their all-time history.

About the Swedes

Bethany comes to Rapid City with a 4-8 overall record and 0-7 record in the KCAC. After starting the season 4-2, the Swedes have lost six straight games, including an exhibition game at Division II Pittsburg State. This game is an exhibition for Bethany.

Keddric Mays II leads the team with 18 points per game in 12 games played. Donovan Newton is second with 12.6 points per game. Mays is first with 6.2 rebounds per game and second with 2.4 steals per game. Bethany was picked 13th in the KCAC Preseason Poll.

About the Hardrockers

South Dakota Mines is 5-6 overall and 3-1 in the RMAC so far this season. Their 3-1 RMAC record is the best RMAC start to a season since 2015-16. They have won three straight games going back to their Dec. 6 win at Chadron State. Last weekend, the Hardrockers defeated Colorado Christian and CSU Pueblo in overtime.

Jason Lee leads the team and is third in the RMAC with 18.9 points per game. His 62 assists is first in the RMAC and sixth in NCAA DII. He is also averaging 2.3 steals per game, the second-best mark in the conference. Ryan Sweeney's 56.3 field goal percentage ranks second in the conference. The Hardrockers were picked 15th in the RMAC Preseason Poll.

South Dakota Mines is back in action after the calendar flips in January. Their first game back is at MSU Denver on Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m. After a contest at Colorado School of Mines on Jan. 10, the Hardrockers are back home on Jan. 15 to face Fort Lewis.
