Men's Basketball to Host (RV) Fort Hays State on Wednesday Night

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Men's Basketball returns to action at the King Center this week against (RV) Fort Hays State on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Series History

Fort Hays State holds a 4-0 all-time lead against South Dakota Mines. All four matchups have been played in Hays, Kansas, including a 52-76 Hardrocker loss on Nov. 19, 2024.

About the Tigers

Fort Hays State comes to Rapid City with a 1-1 overall record. In their season opener, they defeated #9 Southwest Minnesota State 65-56 at Gross Memorial Coliseum. The Tigers fell to Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday 68-79 to conclude MIAA/NSIC Challenge.

Jahvari Martino leads the team with 15 points per game after his 17 points against the Mustangs. The Tigers won the MIAA Tournament last season after they went 22-10 overall and 12-7 in the MIAA. They fell to #17 MSU Moorhead on the Central Region Quarterfinals.

About the Hardrockers

Head Coach Michael Iseman earned his first win as a head coach last weekend against Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Hardrockers picked up a 79-66 victory on Saturday night after they fell to the Javelinas 75-76 on Friday night. For South Dakota Mines, it was their first win over Texas A&M-Kingsville since 2021.

Guido Wanschelbaum earned RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after he averaged 11.5 rebounds per game with 17 total points. Jason Lee put up 27 points, seven rebounds and seven assists on Friday. He followed that up with 14 points, six rebounds, seven assists and five steals on Saturday night. The Hardrockers were picked 15th in the RMAC Preseason Poll.

South Dakota Mines will go on the road for two consecutive weekends, starting on Nov. 21 against Augustana in Moorhead, Minnesota. The Hardrockers are back at home on Dec. 2 to face Black Hills State at 7:30 p.m.
