Wanschelbaum's Double-Double Earns him RMAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In their first weekend of action, South Dakota Mines Men's Basketball forward Guido Wanschelbaum has been named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week.

To start off the 2025-26 season, Guido Wanschelbaum helped the Hardrockers to a 1-1 weekend on the defensive end. Against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Friday, he had seven points, nine rebounds, one block and one steal.

Wanschelbaum put up a double-double on Saturday against the Javelinas. He recorded 10 points and 14 rebounds, the most rebounds in a single game in the RMAC this season. He also had two assists and one steal. That helped the Hardrockers to a 79-66 victory for their first win of the season.

Through two games, Wanschelbaum is first in the RMAC with 11.5 rebounds per game.

What's Next

The Hardrockers return to action on Nov. 19 against Fort Hayes State in the King Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. South Dakota Mines will go on a four-game road trip before they return home on Dec. 2.
