Volleyball Back at Home to Face Yellow Jackets

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Volleyball hosts Black Hills State for a mid-week matchup on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Series History

South Dakota Mines is 26-50 all-time against Black Hills State. The Hardrockers have won four straight contests against the Yellow Jackets dating back to 2023. This will be the sixth matchup in the last three seasons against Black Hills State.
About the Yellow Jackets

Black Hills State is 6-17 overall and 2-9 in the RMAC this season. They have lost four straight matches with their last win on Oct. 11 against Chadron State. After that win, they have lost to Regis, Chadron State, New Mexico Highlands and Colorado School of Mines.

Emily Freeland leads the team with 2.75 kills per set and 228 total kills. Randi Wellhoefer is second with 2.52 kills per set. Ellie Thomas ranks third in the RMAC With 4.76 digs per set this season.

About the Hardrockers

After a five-game road trip, South Dakota Mines is 9-14 overall and 6-5 in the RMAC. They went 4-1 on the road trip, including wins over Regis, Chadron State, Colorado Mesa and Colorado School of Mines. In their last homestand, the Hardrockers went 1-1 with a 3-0 win over New Mexico Highlands.

Lexi Glendenning is first on the team with 268 kills and 3.53 kills per set. Morgan Daugherty, Joy Aburto and Ivy Vindivich are all averaging more than two kills per set. Hannah Benes is first in the RMAC with 4.88 digs per set. This past weekend, she recorded 30 digs at Colorado School of Mines, one dig shy of a career high.

What's Next

The Hardrockers will close out the regular season over the weekend with Westminster on Friday and Colorado Mesa on Saturday. If they make it, the RMAC Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 18-22.
