Volleyball Tops Chadron State, Concludes RMAC Regional Pod

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Volleyball defeated Chadron State on Friday 3-0 to conclude the RMAC Regional Pod.

The Hardrockers took down Chadron State 3-0 on Friday night at the King Center.

South Dakota Mines won the first set 25-20 over Chadron State. With a 4-5 deficit, the Hardrockers went on a 6-1 run to go up 10-6. They carried that lead to the end of the set as South Dakota Mines won 25-20, closed out the set with a Kiera Walsh kill.

In the second set, South Dakota Mines went up 2-0 in the match with a 25-20 victory. Both teams stayed close until the Hardrockers went on a 6-2 run to go up 18-13 in the set. They held that lead all the way through as Ivy Vindivich gave South Dakota Mines another 25-20 win.

The Hardrockers dominated in the third set with a 25-16 win to sweep the Eagles 3-0. Midway through the set, a 5-1 run gave the Hardrockers a 17-9 lead. With a 21-12 lead, South Dakota Mines ended an Eagles run that guided them to a 25-16 victory. Morgan Daugherty ended the match for the Hardrockers.

Lexi Glendenning led the way for South Dakota Mines with 14 kills, five digs, three blocks and a .300 hitting percentage. Daugherty picked up nine kills and four digs. Walsh had seven kills and four blocks, while Vindivich collected seven kills and 15 digs. Heather Jiricek tallied six kills. Hannah Joseph had 22 assists and Hannah Benes recorded 20 digs.

With the win, the Hardrockers moved to 4-10 overall. The RMAC Regional Pod did not count towards RMAC play as South Dakota Mines goes into next weekend with a 2-2 conference record.

What's Next

The Hardrockers will go on the road this weekend to (RV) UCCS on Friday and #8 MSU Denver on Saturday. They will return on Oct. 17 to face New Mexico Highlands at 6 p.m.
