RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Football will take on #5 Western Colorado at O'Harra Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m.
Series History
Western Colorado is 5-3 all-time against South Dakota Mines. The last Hardrockers win came on Oct. 8, 2022, in Gunnison, Colorado. Since then, the Mountaineers have won two straight games, scoring 35 or more points in both contests. The Hardrockers are 1-3 against the Mountaineers at O'Harra Stadium.
About the Mountaineers
Western Colorado comes to Rapid City with an undefeated 6-0 record. They were most recently ranked fifth in the AFCA Poll. They have blown out each opponent they have faced this season, with the closest being a 45-28 win over West Texas A&M in Week 0. They defeated Black Hills State 56-17 last week.
Quarterback Drew Nash is second in the RMAC with 1,236 passing yards and 17 touchdowns this season. He has a 64.6 completion percentage with just one interception. His favorite target has been Caden Measner, who has 380 yards in the air with seven touchdowns. Ian Loomis leads the defense with 40 tackles and four sacks.
About the Hardrockers
South Dakota Mines' two-game winning streak was halted last week with a 14-24 loss to Colorado School of Mines, dropping them to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the RMAC. Receiver
Mason Galbreath caught seven passes for 123 yards and a touchdown in that game.
Charlie Johnson totaled 11 tackles with half a sack against the Orediggers. Before that game, the Hardrockers topped both Fort Lewis and Black Hills State.
Gage Baker's 22.14 completions per game is 10
th in NCAA Division II. His 1,057 passing yards in RMAC contests is second in the conference.
Jacoby Ogbonna leads the team with 382 receiving yards, while Galbreath is right behind him with 351 yards.
Ty Harris has rushed for 360 yards and
Dawson Dunbar has totaled 338 yards on the ground.
Will Lester's 57 tackles are third in the RMAC, while Johnson's 51 are fifth.
Saturday's game is a part of Family Weekend at South Dakota Mines.
