RAPID CITY, SD – South Dakota Mines Volleyball took down Black Hills State to begin the RMAC Regional Pod.

th all-time matchup, South Dakota Mines defeated Black Hills State 3-1 on Tuesday night.
The Hardrockers dominated the first set 25-18. The Yellow Jackets took an 11-8 lead until South Dakota Mines recorded four straight points to go up 12-11. With an 18-18 tie, the Hardrockers put up seven consecutive points to win 25-18. In that run,
Morgan Daugherty had a kill and three service aces.
Black Hills tied the match with a 25-23 second set win. It was a set full of runs and with a 21-19 lead late, the Yellow Jackets staged a comeback with six points in eight attempts.
In the third set, South Dakota Mines won 25-22 to go up 2-1 in the match. At a 13-13 draw, the Hardrockers went on a run to go up 19-15. The Hardrockers were in a 24-19 set points, but the Yellow Jackets attempted a comeback.
Joy Aburto ended the set with a kill to win 25-22.
South Dakota Mines won the match with a 25-18 fourth set win. The Yellow Jackets took a 14-12 lead in the middle of the set until a 7-1 run made it 19-15 for the Hardrockers. Five straight points at the end gave South Dakota Mines a 25-18 set win and 3-1 match victory.
Daugherty led the match with 17 kills. She also added five digs, three aces and one block.
Lexi Glendenning picked up 16 kills, four digs and a .382 hitting percentage.
Hannah Benes recorded 16 digs for the Hardrockers.
Louisa Battin totaled 18 assists, four blocks and three digs.
Kiera Walsh,
Ava Sparks and
Heather Jiricek all had three blocks.
The Hardrockers totaled 59 kills, 57 digs and nine blocks. Their .285 hitting percentage was better than the Yellow Jackets' .168 clip.
What's Next
South Dakota Mines will finish up the RMAC Regional Pod against Chadron State at the King Center on Friday at 6 p.m. They will go to UCCS and MSU Denver next weekend.
