RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Mines men's basketball program has officially added seven new members to its program as part of the 2024 signing class.

Tre Dowdell, Nolan Kliewer, Martin Poznanovic, Parker Smith, Luke Stoddard, Gavin Soukup and Mac Terry are the newest additions to the program.

"We are excited to add seven high character student-athletes to our family and look forward to the impact they can make on the court this year and into the future," said head coach Eric Glenn. "We're pleased to be able to add multi-faceted players who can help us in a variety of ways."

Dowdell is a point guard who spent his final year of high school at Evergreen Park and hails from Chicago, Illinois. The 6'3" point guard started 23 games at Evergreen Park after transferring there for his final season, averaging 18.5 points per game as well as 4.5 rebounds and 3 assists per game. He played two additional years at Brother Rice High School, where he played in 40 games in his sophomore and junior seasons. Following his season at Evergreen, Dowdell was a first team all-conference and second team all-area selection. Dowdell played a year of club basketball with Old Gold Basketball and scored 18 points per game with six rebounds and five assists per game.

Nolan Kliewer is a long forward from Castle Pines, Colorado and attended Rock Canyon High School. Playing two years of varsity basketball, Kliewer has a lot of untapped potential and grew a ton as a basketball player between his junior and senior seasons. Between the two years, he combined to play in 51 games but started in each of his 26 in his senior year. After averaging 2.3 points per game in his junior year, that climbed to nine points per game and six rebounds per game for his final year. Kliewer was a three-year member of the football team where he was an all-conference selection. He played club basketball for CP Magic.

Martin Poznanovic is a transfer who spent his first two years with McCook Community College and his most recent two seasons with RMAC rival, Chadron State College. Originally from Uzice, Serbia, Poznanovic averaged 5.5 points per game with Chadron State but showed his potential, earning RMAC Offensive Player of the Week on 12/18, when he shot 77.3% from the field while averaging 19 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in a three-game stretch. The stretch four can provide shooting and strong post play.

Parker Smith is a combo guard coming from Pocatello, Idaho. He started 49 games over his junior and senior seasons at Pocatello High School and was named the state tournament defensive MVP Tournament as well as conference defensive player of the year following his senior year. He is a winner as he has won a state championship, two district championships and was a state runner-up twice. Smith played club for Kongo and Utah Hard Knox throughout his basketball career. A multi-sport athlete, Smith participated in track and field and on the football team for two years. He was a two-time offensive all-conference selection and a defensive all-conference selection in football.

Luke Stoddard joins the program from Crown Point, Indiana and attended the Bosco Institute, playing 36 games over his junior and senior seasons. He was a double-digit scorer in his final season, hitting 62% of his shots along with 52% of his three-point shots, adding seven rebounds per game.

Gavin Soukup comes from our backyard, from Mitchell, South Dakota and Mitchell High School. Soukup was an all-conference, all-state and all-tournament selection in his senior season. He played in 47 games, starting 29 over his final two seasons. Soukup helped lead Mitchell to three conference championships and three state tournament appearances, finishing as a runner-up once and winning the state championship in his senior year.

Mac Terry rejoins teammate Nolan Kliewer at the collegiate level as the two Rock Canyon High School products look to recreate their success for the Hardrockers. Also hailing from Castle Pines, Colorado, Terry was a two-time all-conference selection, earning all-state in his final year. He averaged nearly 15 points per game along with 5.4 rebounds per game and 4.2 assists per game in his senior season. Played club for CP Magic for eight years.

The men's basketball team opens its 2024-25 season on November 8th at Texas A&M - Kingsville.
