RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines along with the Hardrock Club will enshrine six new members and one team into its hall of fame on homecoming weekend.

The inductees to the 2024 Hall of Fame are as follows:
1996-97 Men's Basketball Team:
Under the leadership of head coach, Hugh Welsh, the Hardrockers finished the season with a 17-13 record, including 9-7 in the South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference, before knocking off Black Hills State and Dordt in the SDIC Tourney and advancing to the NAIA National Tournament for the second time in school history. Chad Kramer, Shannon Peterson and John Van Beek were the leading scorers on the team, averaging 17.9 points per game, 12.1 points per game and 11.3 points per game. Kramer, Van Beek and Jeff Woodmansee were all-conference selections from this team.

Ken Wrede – Men's Basketball and Track & Field:
A Rapid City native, Ken Wrede began his basketball career at South Dakota Mines after a year of basketball at Central High School. It didn't take Ken long to adjust to the game, starting for his final three years of his collegiate career. He saved his best for last, named to the NAIA All-District Six and All-SDIC teams following his senior year.
As a team, the Hardrockers tied for the conference regular-season title, in part due to Wrede's improved play, averaging nearly 17 points and 7 rebounds during SDIC play.
In addition to his success as a basketball player, Wrede was a member of the track & field team, competing in the high jump, long jump and triple jump throughout his career.
Wrede graduated with a degree in mining engineering in 1977.
Madisen Lane – Volleyball & Track and Field:
Lane was a two-sport athlete as a member of the track & field team and the volleyball team, graduating in 2012 as a Civil Engineering major. Lane was an all-american high jumper, earning fourth in indoor and seventh in outdoor in 2011. Lane is still carrying the high jump school record and the #8 mark in triple jump.
As a volleyball player, Lane played 109 matches, and sits near the top of the leaderboard in several categories (Since 2007): 947 Kills – Second, 98 Aces – Second, 880 Digs – 8
th, 244 Blocks – 3
rd) and in the single season leaderboard for aces (2009, 2011), blocks (2011) and points (2011). In addition, she led the 2011 team to a 27-5 record, the best in school history.
John Redmond – Cross Country & Track and Field:
John graduated in 1998 as one of the best track and field and cross country athletes in school history, winning a District Championship in Cross Country in 1997 along with track accolades, including: 1996 & 1998 SDIC Steeple Champion and Indoor and outdoor 5000m SDIC Champion in 1998. He still holds the Steeple School record.
Josh Rickenbach – Football:
Josh Rickenach was a defensive lineman on the football team from 1992-1995 and was a force along that line. He was dominant and has the accolades to go along with it.
During his time as a Hardrocker, Rickenbach was reported to have earned three SDIC All-Conference nods along with conference Defensive Player of the Year honors both shared and solo in 1994 and 1995 along with two NAIA All-America Honorable Mention selections.
Quinn Diede – Men's Basketball:
Quinn Diede is one of the most prolific scorers in South Dakota Mines basketball history, scoring over 1,000 career points in just two seasons. In his freshman season, he averaged 17.3 points per game on 52.3% shooting and 46.6% from three-point range.
In his final year, he averaged an eye popping 23.9 points per game on 46.9% shooting and 96-214 (44.9)% from three-point range. For his career, he averaged 20.8 points per game, the most since tracking began in 2000 and totaled 1,227 career points, currently 19
th on the all-time list.
