BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The golf teams opened up the RMAC Championships in Nevada today, finishing round one.
The women are led by a trio of seniors in their last time out as Hardrockers and they did not disappoint, starting with
Annika Schooler with a textbook performance, setting a school record for lowest round with a -3, 69 and completing just the second under par round in school history for the women as she continues to add chapters to her legacy. After the first round, she sits in first place overall.
Rianna Garland and
Mya Maxwell, the other aforementioned seniors also had strong performances with Garland sitting in a tie for 18th after shooting 75. Maxwell is in a tie for 35th after shooting an 80.
Joining Maxwell was teammate,
Kenzie Schroeder with an 80. The team was wrapped up with
Addiley Lloyd, hitting an 86 to sit inside the top 50.
Overall, the women are sitting in seventh place, just a stroke back of the sixth-place team and within striking distance of the teams placed in third and tied for fourth, within just six strokes of each.
The men currently sit in eighth after
Joseph Vincent and
Supawich Boonta led the way with matching 74s to place in a tie for 26th on the leaderboard after the first round.
Tyler White and
Brycen Farris also posted matching scores of 78 as they are in a tie for 34th.
Braydon Jones, fresh off being named the Summit Award winner for the second straight year shot an 83.
The men will tee off on Tuesday beginning at noon with
Braydon Jones and follow every nine minutes throughout the remainder of the team. The women will tee off beginning at 12:30 p.m. MT with
Addiley Lloyd and every nine minutes after throughout the team.
