GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – On Saturday night, the South Dakota Mines men's basketball team took on the highly ranked Colorado Mesa Mavericks
Colorado Mesa shot it well and the Hardrockers were not able to keep up, falling to 5-6 in RMAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Early in the first half, the two teams were not able to get going offensively with just a couple of buckets through nearly the first four minutes. Then the teams started to get going and were tied at 12 after an Alejandro Rama jumper.
The Hardrockers would keep it close for much of the first half but a 13-0 run would get Colorado Mesa out to a 40-24 advantage with 3:03 to go in the half and led 45-28 at half.
In the second half, Colorado Mesa continued to control the game, going up 58-36 with just under 12 minutes to play. With five minutes to play, Cameron Cohn converted a three-point play, but the Mavericks continued their strong play, sending the Hardrockers home with an 81-56 loss behind a Trevor Baskin double-double and strong shooting.

Cameron Cohn led the team with 18…Alejandro Rama grabbed six rebounds and dished 3 assist, both leading the team…Ethan Bruns and Keagen Smith had five rebounds.

The Hardrockers are off for a week and then are scheduled for just one contest next weekend as they host CSU Pueblo on Friday.
