Portales, N.M. --- The South Dakota Mines soccer team has been down south for a two-game road trip, wrapping it up Saturday in Portales, taking on Eastern New Mexico.
In the first half, neither team was afforded many opportunities, with the Hardrockers getting three shots, and three of them coming on goal, while Eastern New Mexico recorded five shots.
In the second half, Eastern New Mexico dominated statistically, outshooting the Hardrockers 13-1, but 1 was all South Dakota Mines needed.
Parker Yocom had a great run down the right flank, finding Chase Stohlamann with a pass in front of the net, which he proceeded to bury. Despite Daniel Frietas getting peppered with 13 shots, he made seven saves to record his first collegiate clean sheet.
Next up for the Hardrockers is a split week, as MSU Denver visits Dakota Fields for a Friday afternoon matchup at 1:00 p.m. Immediately following that matchup, the Hardrockers head to Alamosa to visit the Grizzlies of Adams State on Sunday for a 10:00 a.m. matchup.
