Colorado Springs, Colo. --- The South Dakota Mines volleyball team traveled to Colorado Springs, Colo. to face the Mountain Lions from University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Thursday night.
The Hardrockers battled throughout three sets, but fell in each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UCCS was able to take set 1, thanks to a 3-point run late in the set to give them a 25-21 victory.
The second set was another battle, with two teams locked in a dead heat early, and even trading leads throughout. It was another UCCS run, this time four points unanswered, giving them a 20-16 lead that led them to another 25-21 victory.
The third set was more of the same, as the Hardrockers would continue to battle, tying the set at 22 after trailing, 20-16. It wouldn't be enough, however as the Mountain Lions took the set 25-23.
NOTES
The Hardrockers had 31 total kills in the match with
Alessandra Meoni hitting nine of them.
Kiley Metzger ended the match with 25 assists, recording her third double double of the season, also recording 12 digs.
Hannah Benes was stellar on defense with 22 digs. As a team the Hardrockers had 63 digs and 28 assists.

The Hardrockers will travel up I-25 to face #16 Regis University Friday at 7:00 p.m.
