Golf Scores Three Wins and a Record at Arrowhead

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines golf teams finished up their home tournament with round 2 of the Spring Hardrocker Invite at Arrowhead Golf Club today.

The Hardrockers saw plenty of success along with a pair of records.

The women's team recorded the win, their second straight at the Spring Invite, defending their crown from last year. The women also won at the Fall Hardrocker Invite at the Golf Club at Red Rock, giving the team its second win of the 2022-23 season tying a record set in 2018-19.

Annika Schooler recorded the first individual win of her career, shooting matching scores in rounds 1 and 2 to shoot 160 and grab the three-stroke victory over teammate Rianna Garland. Lora Ortega came in with a 5th-place finish, shooting 176. Jessalyn Shipp and Mya Maxwell also finished in the top 10, shooting 184 and 187. The remainder of the South Dakota Mines golfers finished from 14-20 with Potia Lenczowski, Summer Christiansen, Julia Sabetti, Megan Alexander, and Taylor Ullen shooting 190, 192, 194, 197, and 199.

For the men, Joseph Vincent has been swinging a hot stick. In the last tournament the Southern Colorado Masters, he tied his own record which was also set during the fall for low-54. This time out, he one-upped himself, setting a new low 36-hole record by shooting a 137, breaking the previous record, set back in 2005-06 by four strokes. Vincent won the tournament from wire-to-wire, dominating with the 9-stroke victory, finishing -5 as the only player in the tournament under par. Supawich Boonta finished in fifth, shooting 151. Other top-10 finishers were Jake Francis (t-6th, 155), and Braydon Jones (t-6th, 155). Ramey Lloyd, Roger Nakagawa, and Everette Carrol finished just outside the top 10, shooting 157, 157, and 158. Carson McDaniel and Caeden Ekroth finished at 161 and 173.

The Hardrockers will have a quick turnaround as they head to Niobrara, Nebraska to compete in the Tatanka Spring Invite hosted by the University of Jamestown. That tournament will begin on Friday.
