RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The Hardrocker men's basketball team took on MSU Denver on Friday night and the Hardrocker offense was rolling.
How it Happened – Early in the first half, the Hardrockers were hitting on all cylinders, getting early threes from
Kolton Frugoli, and
Keagen Smith to start 6-6 from the field, and lead 15-9 at the first media timeout. A
Brevin Walter steal and score on the other end would expand the Hardrocker lead to 10, 19-9. A bit later, a
Kolten Mortensen three assisted by
Jaka Prevodnik (making his season debut), would put the Hardrockers up, 24-14. The rest of the first half was a battle, with MSU Denver closing the gap. Heading into halftime, the Hardrockers led 36-35.
Early in the second half, the two teams were trading buckets, with
Brevin Walter first hitting a mid-range jumper only to be followed by the Roadrunners' Tyrei Randall tying the game at 46. MSU Denver would eventually take a lead, going up, 57-53, with 10:56 to play. The Roadrunners would continue the momentum, taking a 64-55 lead with just over 8 minutes to play. The Hardrockers were not able to get back into the game, falling 75-63.
Notes – Walter scored 22 to lead the team…
Keagen Smith led the team with six rebounds.
Up Next – The Hardrockers will be back on the court tomorrow evening when they face off against Colorado School of Mines at 6.:00 PM.
