COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. --- On Monday afternoon, the RMAC selected and announced its player of the week selections for men's basketball.
 
For the first time this season, a South Dakota Mines men's basketball player has been honored with the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week award. It was a fitting week for Alejandro Rama to be selected for the award as he was a critical piece of the Hardrockers' 3-0 week. 
 
Coming off a year where he was an RMAC All-Conference Honorable Mention selection, despite missing a large chunk of the first part of the season, Rama has picked up where he left off. This week, in leading the Hardrockers to an undefeated start in RMAC play and a win over Black Hills State, Rama averaged 19.33 points per game, including a high of 22 against the Yellow Jackets. It wasn't just his scoring, however, as he has been one of the top distributors in the RMAC this season and averaged six per game over the past week. He continues to be one of the better shooters in the conference from the guard position, hitting 44% of his shots and 35% from three. In addition, he added five steals and three blocks to continue to be near the top of the conference there as well. 
 
This is not new news to those who have been following as Rama is having a great year, averaging 18.5 points per game (5th RMAC) on 41.9% shooting and 35.9% from three-point range, 5.8 rebounds per game (12th RMAC), 3.3 assists per game (8th RMAC), 1.1 turnover ratio (9th RMAC), 1.5 blocks per game (t-3rd RMAC) and 2.1 steals per game (6th RMAC).
 
Rama and the Hardrockers host their first RMAC contests at the King Center this weekend, taking on a pair of tough opponents with Colorado School of Mines (RV) and MSU Denver (#8/11) on Friday and Saturday. Those games are scheduled for 7:30 and 6:00 p.m.
