Volleyball's Fantastic Season Stops in Semifinals

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines volleyball team moved on to the semifinals of the RMAC Playoffs, taking on MSU Denver on Friday night on the Roadrunners' home court.  
 
The Hardrocker battled, but would fall in three sets, 25-18, 25-13, and 25-15, closing their season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hardrockers fought throughout the first set, but a 3-0 Roadrunners' run gave MSU Denver a 16-11 lead. South Dakota Miens would continue to fight, scoring two points in a row, cutting the deficit to 17-14, but it wouldn't be enough as the Roadrunners took the set, 25-18.
 
In the second set, the Roadrunners continued their momentum, getting out to a 4-0 lead, before eventually taking a 10-2 lead. They would continue to roll, going up 19-8, before eventually closing out the set, 25-13.
 
South Dakota Mines would play better in the third, after initially going down 11-5, they scored four straight, and then kept it close for a few points, before MSU Denver scored five of six, going up 19-12, and eventually winning it 25-15.
 
NOTES
Alessandra Meoni led the Hardrockers with nine kills and three blocks…Kiley Metzger recorded a double-double with 14 assists and 10 digs.
