Hardrocker Men Head to Pueblo for Matchup with Thunderwolves

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines men's basketball team is on the road for a single game this week, as they take on CSU Pueblo Friday night. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:30.   
 
Series History
vs. CSU Pueblo
  • The Hardrockers and Mountaineers have met 10 times since South Dakota Mines joined the RMAC in 2016.
  • The Hardrockers have a 7-3 advantage in the series overall.
  • Currently, the 'Rockers have a four-game win streak in the series.
  • Last season, in the single meeting, the Hardrockers were victorious in Rapid City, 81-76.
  • In a contest that went to overtime, Brevin Walter scored 34 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Gold Nuggets
  • The Hardrocker offense has been continuing to get better as they average 77.5 points in league play, the fifth-best in the conference.
  • Their three-point percentage has been a big factor in that as they shoot 37.7% from beyond the arc, the fifth-best percentage in RMAC play.
  • South Dakota Mines is also the best free throw shooting team in the RMAC, hitting 79.1% from the stripe, the 16th-best mark in NCAA Division II.
  • Brevin Walter is currently 12th in NCAA Division II in scoring, averaging 21.9 points per game. In conference play, the number is even better as he averages 25.8 points per game, second in the league.
  • Kolten Mortensen is one of the best shooters in the conference, hitting 48.6% from the field (11th RMAC), and 50.8% from three-point range (1st RMAC).
  • On Friday, five different Hardrockers went into double figures in scoring.
  • In Saturday's contest, Brevin Walter and Alejandro Rama led the team, scoring 20 and 18 points.

CSU Pueblo
  • CSU Pueblo is currently 9-8 with a 5-6 mark in the RMAC.
  • They are 7-4 at home and have won two straight, Defeating New Mexico Highlands and Western Colorado last weekend.
  • Defensively, the Thunderwolves allow just 67.4 points per game, fourth best in the RMAC.
  • They shoot it well and do a good job defending opposing shooters as they hit 46.3% of their shots and allow opponents to make just 42.9%, both sixth in the league.
  • Lian Ramiro leads the Pack on offense, averaging 12.8 points per game.
  • The Thunderwolves have one of the best rebounders in the conference as Isaiah Thompson averages 8.8 boards per game.
