RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines golf team opened up play at The Golf Club at Red Rock Monday morning and had a good showing overall.

The Men's A team played great in the opening 18 holes, with all five individuals sitting in the top-10 overall.
Roger Nakagawa shot a 73, putting him in fourth place, meanwhile
Supawich Boonta shot a 76 to put him in a tie for fifth.
Joseph Vincent,
Jake Francis and
Carson McDaniel all shot 77 to tie them in eighth. Overall, the team sits in the second place, shooting a 303, putting them two strokes back of MSU Billings.

The B team comprised of
Caeden Ekroth,
Ramey Lloyd, Bradon Jones,
Reece Mayala and Benjamin Macy didn't fare as well, coming up with a 345 overally but is in striking distance of Dordt and Minot State going into day two. Ekroth and Lloyd are sitting in the top-30 after shooting an 84 and 85 while Jones, Mayala, and Macy rounded out the team shooting 87, 89, and 93.

Both of the women's teams had a strong first round posting 342 (A) and 345 (B).
Rianna Garland is currently sitting in first overall with a 76. She is joined in the top-10 by
Annika Schooler (T3, 82),
Megan Alexander (4, 84), and
Jessalyn Shipp (T9, 85).
Mya Maxwell, Tayler Ullen and
Julia Sabetti also were on the A team and finished with scores of 87, 97, and 98.
Lora Ortega,
Summer Christiansen and
Portia Lenczowski finished with an 86, 90, and 102 for the B team.

The Hardrockers will finish up tomorrow, with all the golfers teeing off on different holes beginning at 9:00 a.m.
