RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines women's basketball team played host to their Interstate Rivals the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets for the 108
th time on Monday night at the King Center. The Hardrockers fell to the Yellow Jackets 72-42 in a non-conference match up.
How it Happened -
In the first quarter the Hardrockers started out strong jumping out to a 10-8 lead with 3:30 left in the quarter. The Yellow Jackets tied it up at 10-10 and took an early 14-12 into the second quarter.
The Yellow Jackets went on a 9-0 run to start the second quarter to take a 23-12 lead. The Hardrockers were not able to get things going on the offensive end and the Yellow Jackets took a 48-19 lead into halftime.
Piper Bauer lead the Hardrockers with five points at the half.
The Hardrockers had an early 11-2 run in the third quarter but couldn't sustain it, despite the strong third quarter from
Madelyn Heiser scored 14 points in the third quarter but trailed 65-33 going into the fourth. The Hardrockers played hard to the end but the Yellow Jackets ended up winning 72-42.
Bailey Johnson and
Madelyn Heiser led the Hardrockers with 12 points each.

Up Next – The Hardrockers will be back on the court this weekend against the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs on Friday at 5:30 PM. Then on Saturday, the Hardrockers will face Regis University at 4:00 PM. Both games will be at the King Center.
