Hardrocker Men's Basketball Falls Despite Strong Second Half

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines men's basketball team fell on Monday evening in a non-conference matchup with long-time rival, Black Hills State.
 
How it Happened -
 
In the first half, the Hardrockers kept it close early, but went through a long stretch of struggling offensively. After being down 7, 15-8, South Dakota Mines would end the half with 23 points, trailing 51-23.  
 
Brevin Walter was the Hardrocker leader in the first half, scoring 13 of the team's 23 points.
 
The second half started better for South Dakota Mines, and they were able to hit shots and play good defense, cutting the deficit to 16, 55-39, but the Hardrockers were not able to get much closer, as Joel Scott scored 30 to lead Black Hills State to a 78-58 victory. In the second half, the Hardrockers outscored Black Hills State 35-27.
 
Game Notes – Brevin Walter and Kolton Frugoli led the Hardrockers, scoring 18 and 15…Kolten Mortensen grabbed seven rebounds to lead the team.  
 
Up Next – The Hardrockers will be back on the court this weekend against the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs on Friday at 7:30 PM. Then on Saturday, the Hardrockers will face Regis University at 6:00 PM in the friendly confines of the King Center.
