RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines Soccer team was at home taking on the Colorado School of Mines on Friday afternoon and fell in heartbreaking fashion.
In the first half Colorado School of Mines started fast getting a goal from Tristan Semelsberger in the first minute and a second goal from Chris Seery around 10 minutes later, but the Hardrockers would start to settle down and be assisted with an own goal to go into the locker room trailing 2-1.
In the second half, South Dakota Mines played well and were rewarded in the 72
nd minute on a beautiful pass from
Alexander Crowson that found the feet of
Trent Ripley for his first goal of the season and tying it up at two. It looked like the Hardrockers would escape with a draw, however Colorado Mines would get very aggressive and get many chances but it still looked like the Hardrockers would escape. However, with 14 seconds to go Michael Sprauer found the back of the net to send the Hardrockers to defeat.
The loss brings the Hardrockers record to 1-10-2 overall and 0-6-1 in conference play.
The Hardrockers will be back at it on Sunday at UCCS, looking to end a four-game losing streak when they play at home Friday.
