SALT LAKE CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Mines women's volleyball team traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah, where the Hardrockers squared off with Westminster College and Colorado State Pueblo in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference pod all day Saturday.
In the first match of the day, the 'Rockers fell to Westminster College, 3-2. The Griffins defeated the Hardrockers, 17-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 15-8, in the opening bout of the day.
The Hardrockers tallied 78 kills in the match on 174 attacks. They added 75 assists, 61 digs and six total blocks. Westminster had 55 kills on 141 attacks to go along with 53 assists and 55 digs.
Individually for the 'Rockers,
Jacey Koethe posted 17 kills on 37 attacks for a .297 hitting percentage.
Lily Bartling had a hitting percentage of .500 collecting 13 kills on 22 attacks.
Dejah Behrend added 12 kills on 26 attacks for a .385 hitting percentage.
Claire Smith added 10 kills on 27 attacks.
Shyann Bastian tallied 33 assists while
Kiley Metzger tacked on 32.
Anna Thomas led the team with 21 digs.
In the second match of the day, the ThunderWolves won in straight sets over South Dakota Mines, 3-0. CSUP defeated the 'Rockers, 25-21, 28-26, 25-13.
The Hardrockers finished with 24 kills on 105 attacks, added 24 assist and 51 digs. The Pack notched 41 kills on 113 attacks, added 35 assists and 51 digs.
Individually for the 'Rockers, Koethe led the team with seven kills on 21 attacks, while Behrend collected six kills on 18 attacks. Bastian led the team with 13 assists while
Chelsea Brewster and Thomas both registered 14 digs.
