Hardrockers Head To Colorado For Last Pod Of Season

RAPID CITY S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines women's volleyball team is off on its final road trip of the season Hardrockers head to Colorado Springs, Colorado, for their last pod. The 'Rockers will face University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Western Colorado University Thursday.

Both matches are slated as Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference bouts.

The Hardrockers head to Colorado with a 3-8 overall and 3-6 mark in the RMAC after falling to Black Hills State last Friday, 3-0, and then came up just short to MSU Billings in a non-conference affair Monday, 3-2.

For the season, the Hardrockers are led by Jacey Koethe with 110 kills and 35 blocks. Anna Thomas paces the squad with 165 digs and 14 aces while Shyann Bastian has registered a team-high 182 assists.

First up Thursday is UCCS. The Mountain Lions have a 4-5 overall record and are 4-3 in RMAC competition. Most recently, they fended off Colorado Christian and pulled out a tight 3-2 win.

The Mountain Lions are led by Lauryn Schockley with 113 kills, 80 digs, 11 blocks and 14 aces. Jordyn Kinsey leads the team in digs with 127 and has 26 assists and six aces under her belt.

The match is slated for an 11 a.m. start time. No fans will be admitted but it will be streamed live on the Hardrocker Network by logging onto www.gorockers.com.

The 'Rockers will then face the Mountaineers. Western heads into the weekend after falling to Colorado Christian and CSU Pueblo last weekend on the road. The Mountaineers are now 3-6 on the season, with all of those matches played against RMAC schools. So far this season, the Mountaineers are 2-2 on the road, as they look to improve on their overall record on Thursday.

Leading the team in kills is sophomore Jordyn Todd with 130 kills on the season. Todd is averaging 3.51 kills a set as she has played in 37 sets. Most of those kills come from a Hanna Hendrickson assist as she leads the team with 314 assists. As the libero, Lyria Brook has racked up the most digs among the Mountaineers with 159 over 38 sets. Brook averages 4.18 digs per set.

The match is schedule to start at 2 p.m. No fans will be admitted but it will be streamed live on the Hardrocker Network by logging onto www.gorockers.com.
