RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines women's volleyball team is back home this weekend for one of its biggest matches of the season as the Hardrockers will face Black Hills State in an Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota, on Friday night.
The Hardrockers recently had a jammed pack week of volleyball, playing in a pod last Monday in Lakewood, Colorado, and then traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah, for a pod last Saturday. When the dust settled, the 'Rockers split on the two RMAC road trips, defeating both Colorado Christian and Adams State on Monday but then came up short to Westminster College and CSU Pueblo on Saturday.
The 'Rockers head into the weekend with a 3-6 overall record and 3-5 mark in conference play.
Individually,
Jacey Koethe leads the Hardrockers in kills with 91, while
Dejah Behrend has 64 and
Shyann Bastian has 63.
Anna Thomas tops SDM in digs with 127 while
Chelsea Brewster has 69. Bastian also lead the team with 170 assist and Thomas has 11 service aces so far this year.
Black Hills State comes into Friday's match with a 3-4 overall record and are 2-4 in the RMAC. BHSU fell to Colorado Christian last Saturday, 3-1, and also was defeated by Regis University 3-1, on Feb. 25.
The Yellow Jackets are led by Kindra Cerrone whoe has 76 kills and 78 digs on the season. Karly Marx leads the team with 149 assists while Haedyn Rhoades paces the Jackets in digs with 136 and aces with eight.
Friday's match is slated for a 7 p.m. start. Preslected fans will be allowed into the contest. It will also be streamed live on the Hardrocker Network by logging onto
