RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines men's basketball team completed its last road trip to Colorado over the weekend as the Hardrockers traveled to Colorado Springs. After opening the season with seven-straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchups in that state, the Hardrockers will now enjoy a five-game stretch on their home floor in Rapid City, South Dakota.
First game up is the CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves Tuesday night at the King Center.
The 'Rockers are currently 6-5 overall and in the RMAC after falling to the Mountain Lions on Friday, 67-55. South Dakota Mines is currently posting 65.6 ppg while opposing teams are averaging 71.5 ppg. The Hardrockers are shooting 45 percent from the field and making good on three-pointers 32 percent of the time.
Individually for the 'Rockers,
Wilfred Dickson continues to have an outstanding senior season and is leading the team averaging 13.9 ppg. Alejadro Rama continues to impress and is averaging 10.7 ppg and leads the team in assists with 24.
Kolten Mortensen's perimeter game is on point right now to compliment his presence in the paint and is contributing 10.5 ppg and leads SDM with 7.7 rpg.
The T-Wolves come to South Dakota fresh out of a COVID quarantine with a 2-5 overall and RMAC mark. Their last three games have been postponed and haven't seen action since Jan. 16 when they fell to UCCS, 73-67.
As a team, CSUP is scoring 73.7 ppg and giving up 77.9 ppg. They are shooting 48 percent from the field and have a three-pointer percentage of .310. Individually, David Simental leads the Pack with 14.3 ppg while Tre Brown cashes in for 14.0 ppg and Lian Ramiro contributes with 11.ppg. Tristan Hurdle leads the squad in rebounding, pulling down 4.7 rpg while De'Shaun Cooper is right there with 4.6 rpg.
