Hardrocker Men's Basketball Leads Wire-to-Wire in Win Over Adams State

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The Hardrocker men's basketball team had a lead early and were able to maintain it, leading wire-to-wire in the victory over Adams State.

In the first half the Hardrocker men's basketball team got off to a good start in the game against Adams State, up 10-5 early and it would only carry on that momentum early getting runs of 4-0, then 6-0 to go up 20-10. The Hardrockers would continue to carry that momentum into the under-10 media timeout, carrying a lead of 27-14. Out of the timeout, Kolton Frugoli would hit a three, expanding the South Dakota Mines lead to 30-14. To close out the half, the Hardrockers led 38-26.

Early in the second half, Adams State grabbed some momentum early, cutting the deficit to 42-33, but the Hardrockers would not allow Adams State to get too much closer. After four-plus minutes of scoreless play from both teams, the Grizzlies would cut it to 5, before the Hardrockers would get a three-pointer from Alejandro Rama, then a jumper from Markell Allums expanded the lead back to ten. Later, when Adams State cut it to 8, the Hardrockers got two free throws from Kolten Mortensen then a three-pointer from Allums, to expand it to 13-points and the Hardrockers would control the game throughout the remainder, winning 70-58.
