RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines men's basketball team was not able to get the 2-game sweep of Texas teams as they started slow, and despite fighting in the second half, were never able to recover.
The first half was not a great one offensively after a quick 5-0 spurt to start the game for the Hardrockers. Going into halftime International held a lead of 31-21.
The second half was a different story for the Hardrockers as they just kept chipping away. With under 5 minutes to go the Hardrockers cut it to 45-41. Over the next couple of minutes the two teams would trade buckets. Going into the under-5 media the Hardrockers trailed just 47-43. Out of the timeout
Kolten Mortensen found
Brannagh Walsh for a layup, cutting it to a one-possession game. With 1:14 to go, the Hardrockers would go to the free throw line with a chance to cut it to a two-point game. Walsh would hit one of two, cutting it to 49-46. International would score on the next possession making it a free throw game and Texas A&M International would hit theirs, finishing off the game with a 52-48 win.
