FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
1. This is a series that dates all the way back to 1895. This is 136th meeting between the two schools. Overall, the Hardrockers are 64-60-11 in the matchup. The Homestake trophy was introduced into the rivalry in 1946 and is awarded to the winner of the game. Currently, the Hardrockers hold the trophy after a 34-17 victory on 10/10/2020.
2. The Hardrocker rushing attack is one of the best in the conference. They average 175.9 yards per game to sit in 4
th in the RMAC. In addition, the Hardrockers have 17 touchdowns on the ground, the third most in the conference.
3. The Hardrocker offense averages over 30 points a game. Third down conversions have been a big part of that. South Dakota Mines has converted 55-116 of their third downs for a 47.41% to lead the RMAC.
4. Redzone success is another factor in their offensive success, converting 28 of their 36 trips for points, the third-best percentage in the conference. 25 of the Hardrocker redzone trips have resulted in 6 points.
5. Cole Peterson intercepted a pass in the first quarter against Western Colorado and returned it for a 41-yard touchdown pass. This was his first defensive touchdown of his career. He added 2 tackles and was credited for .5 tackles for loss.
